Emily in Paris season 2 has been renewed on Netflix in November 2020, just a few weeks after the romantic comedy-drama debuted on the platform in October 2020. Now, here is what fans can anticipate in the upcoming second installment.

Reportedly, Emily in Paris season 2 is set to kick off filming in late April 2021, and work is expected to continue until the summer. ProductionWeekly, particularly, noted the next outing will start production from April 26, 2021, to July 19, 2021.

However, during an interview with AP Entertainment, series creator Darren Star said that filming will begin on May 3, 2021 -- which is close to the timeline of the aforementioned outlet. Hence, it is expected that work will be wrapped up by July 2021.

The production for the first season kicked off in August 2019 in Paris and the additional scenes were filmed in November 2019 in Chicago. Then, the series debuted in October 2020, which marks a 14-month gap between the start of filming and the official premiere.

Therefore, fans may need to wait as the post-production works take several months. The official release date of Emily in Paris season 2 remains in question for now. But, some speculated it could be available on Netflix in either later 2021 or early 2022.

In terms of the storyline, Star teased in an interview with Oprah Magazine what fans can anticipate in the second season. He said that Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) will be "more of a part of the fabric of the world she's living in." She's going to become more of a resident of the city and starts making a life there.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Collins said that there'll be "more areas of Paris to explore" in Emily in Paris season 2. Since Emily stays longer in Paris, she's going to have more experiences and she'll become more familiar with the people and the city she's living in.

Moreover, season 1 ended with a cliffhanger when it comes to Emily's love life, leaving more room to explore for the character. She and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) have finally admitted their feelings toward each other. However, there'll be a few conflicts because of the latter's ex, Camille (Camille Razat).

In a separate conversation, Star also told Vanity Fair that other supporting characters will have their own spotlight in Emily in Paris season 2. He shared that he'd like to explore other characters' storylines, including Emily's boss, Sylvie, played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.
