According to The Cinemaholic, Joe may meet Yuri and his protégé, Liu, in the next installment after the latter has successfully defeated him. He, too, may more likely to reopen Nanbu's gym, though it remains to be seen what will happen next if he does this.
Megalo Box Season 2 Episode 4 featured how Joe's coaching worked for Chief, who managed to win the tournament's first fight. After he cut his beard, he continued to train Chief and helped him recover from his injuries.
