Raymond Reddington (James Spader) is going to recruit more people on his side in the upcoming The Blacklist season 8 episode 16. This time, he'll be recruiting someone to help him orchestrate more of his plans, though it remains to be seen if he could trust this person.

The Blacklist season 8 episode 16 is titled "Nicholas Obenrader," which could be the name of Reddington's new recruit. Yet, it could also be entirely a different person, someone whom he knows capable of doing whatever he says.

In the promo of The Blacklist season 8 episode 16, Reddington is talking to someone, telling the person that he's going to provide the "last job he ever has to take." Then, Spader's character can be heard saying: "one job, that's all I need."

One of Reddington's major missions is trying to infiltrate the organization of Neville Townsend (Reg Rogers). However, he could not do this by himself because they would recognize him immediately. He can't also enlist a member of the organization since the plan might be doomed in an instant.

Hence, Reddington decided to recruit someone -- possibly a new face to make his or her arrival less suspicious. If someone new shows up in the organization, Townsend has no reason to suspect this person. This could make it easier for Spader's character to infiltrate.

But then, there's still uncertainty when it comes to this recruitment -- including whether or not Reddington can actually trust the person he recruits. This is going to be a risky move for him, so he needs to be careful with the decisions he makes.

Meanwhile, Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) and the rest of the Task Force are still working alongside Reddington even though they're uncertain when it comes to his allegiance. Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff), on the other hand, veers close to Liz Keen (Megan Boone), whose plans remain unknown.

As the synopsis of The Blacklist season 8 episode 16 notes, Liz and the Task Force will be tracking new leads in their investigation of N-13. No one knows who the latter is, but Boone's character suspected it to be Reddington. Over the past few episodes, she has been trying to figure out his real identity.

Liz headed to the dark path ever since she witnessed how Reddington killed her mother, Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins). She seeks revenge because of what happened and even teamed up with unlikely allies just to uncover the truth regarding his identity.

The Blacklist season 8 episode 16 airs on Friday, May 7, on NBC.
