The Blacklist season 8 episode 14 may finally see the return of Liz Keen (Megan Boone), who has been gone for the past few episodes. Her arrival could also mean that some faces from the past will show up, possibly to help her take Raymond Reddington (James Spader) down.
For instance, the promo of the upcoming The Blacklist season 8 episode 14 hinted at the return of Kathryn Nemec a.k.a. Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert). She was the right-hand-woman of Reddington and his "loyal cleaner," who has gone missing for many years now.
Although presumed dead, her body wasn't found which indicates that she's still alive and moved elsewhere after she went missing. Considering what happened between Mr. Kaplan and Reddington, she will possibly come back to get revenge on her former boss.
Reddington entrusted Liz's safety to Mr. Kaplan, but she eventually betrayed him. He killed her when he found out that she was the one who faked Liz's death. Then, it was later revealed that she didn't die and has vowed to seek revenge on his friend-turned-enemy.
Now that Liz also turned her back on Reddington, there is a possibility that she went to visit Mr. Kaplan and asked her to be her ally to bring her former partner down. After all, the synopsis of The Blacklist season 8 episode 14 notes that "steps are retraced leading Liz to align with a powerful enemy."
While many were convinced that Liz is teaming up with Neville Townsend (Reg Rogers), Mr. Kaplan's voiceover can be heard in the promo. She hasn't been in the series for several years already and her arrival could further complicate Reddington's current situation.
Liz has been doing everything she can in order to find out the truth about him, particularly his real identity. Perhaps, she goes to Mr. Kaplan to learn more about his former partner. Yet, it remains to be seen whether she is appearing in the present timeline or her presence will be shown in the flashback.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 14 is all about Liz and what she's up to after leaving the Task Force. She is determined to kill Reddington, given that she witnessed how this man killed her mother, Katarina Rostova (Laila Robins). She wants to destroy him and even willing to go on the dark path to make it happen.
Aside from her potential partnership with Mr. Kaplan, Liz is seemingly working with Skip Hadley, as well. In some of the preview photos, the two can be seen having a serious conversation and it might be related to their plan in defeating Reddington once and for all.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 14 is titled "Misere" and it will be airing on Friday, April 23, on NBC.
