After the accidental release of the new Dragon Ball Super movie update, fans expect the film to start a new story for a new anime series. After Dragon Ball Super's anime ended in 2018, will there be a new show about Goku and the gang coming?

So far, there is no new Dragon Ball Super anime on TV and the only show currently airing is Super Dragon Ball Heroes, which now runs longer than DBS. So, will there be an announcement about a new anime series now that a second Dragon Ball Super movie will come out?

According to Comicbook, news about a new film after Dragon Ball Super: Broly's release first circulated online in 2019. In an interview with Akio Iyoku, Dragon Ball Unit's director with Shueisha, on the first Dragon Ball Super film on Blu-ray DVD, he teased the making of the next film installment.

Here, he said they were steadily preparing for the next movie after the strong response on Broly. He added the follow-up film would be totally different and as the Dragon Ball world would continue, he asked fans to look forward to it.

Though nothing is known about the movie yet, it seems to be the best time to announce a new Dragon Ball Super anime. It may set up a new story where a new show can begin.

CBR noted Toe Animation seemed to have prematurely announced the new Dragon Ball Super movie set for a 2022 release. Twitter user @DBSChronicles assumed the company seemed to be planning to announce the second film on Sunday, May 9, known as Goku Day.

However, an article that would feature the news appeared to have accidentally shared it on Toei Animation Europe's official website on Wednesday, May 5. "Toei Animation Marks Goku Day with Surprise Announcement of New Dragon Ball Super Movie in 2022," the headline read.

As expected, a lot of fans headed on Toei's website to see the post for themselves, but it was already deleted. A netizen even shared screenshots of his visit, showing the 404 error page, though its preview remained up on the site for a time before it was officially gone.

Despite the leak, fans still have a reason to celebrate the upcoming Goku Day. Per Coming Soon, there will be a special live stream event that will air three Dragon Ball Heroes episodes that will continue the Space-Time War Arc.

The stream will go live on Twitter and YouTube and there may be more new Dragon Ball Super movie update that will be announced here.
