Liz Keen's (Megan Boone) life remains in danger in the upcoming The Blacklist season 8 episode 18. Ivan Stepanov (David E. Harrison), who's initially known as the Friend from the East, managed to turn Neville Townsend (Reg Rogers) against her. Now, her life is on the line, as well as the people close to her.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 18 is titled "The Protean" and it'll be a continuation of what transpired in episode 17, "Ivan Stepanov." Liz's life has already been in danger ever since she chose to head to the dark path and turned against her former partner, Raymond Reddington (James Spader).
She is determined to bring him down, which led her to team up with unlikely allies -- such as Townsend. Liz knows this is a dangerous move, but she is doing whatever she can in order to uncover the truth about Reddington, including his real identity.
However, in The Blacklist season 8 episode 18, she may have also brought the people close to her in danger. Her daughter, Agnes (Sarah Kell), in particular, seemed to be the biggest concern here. She could be the latest target of Townsend if ever he couldn't kill Liz.
Liz has been doing everything to protect her daughter from dangers, but she recognized that she may have already put her at risk. Given that Townsend wants her dead now, he likely finds a way to threaten her by going after someone she truly cares about.
In The Blacklist season 8 episode 18, Liz will be caught in the middle of a very complicated situation. The previous episode saw Ivan whispering something on Townsend, who is now coming after her. The biggest problem for her is that she has no idea why he wanted her gone.
The promo of this week's episode teased that Townsend seemingly hired an assassin to kill Liz, and possibly Agnes, as well. The clip ended with this man in the crowd likely targeting her daughter and Liz whispering Agnes' name in the background.
The good thing is that Reddington is there to help Liz get out of her current situation. Even though she wants to destroy her former partner's empire, he still cares for her. This time, she needs his help and this could be a way to get them back on the same page and rebuild their trust.
The Blacklist season 8 episode 18 airs on Friday, May 21, on NBC.
