Netflix surprised its subscribers upon releasing the teaser trailer for Trese later this week. The title is one of the latest additions to the platform's anime line-up for this year.

Comic Book reported that the streaming giant had kept the development and production of the material under the wraps. It was only on Friday when the public learned about the new anime series, alongside all the essential details of the title.

Trese is an adaptation of the Filipino original comic series of the same title. The creators of the source material are Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo.

Shanty Harman and Tanya Yuson at BASE Entertainment are serving as the producers, while The Legend of Korra's Jay Oliva is the executive producer. As for the cast members, Liza Soberano is lending her voice to the lead character for the Filipino release, and Filipino-Canadian actress Shay Mitchell for the English language version.

The Pretty Little Liars star, later on, expressed her excitement toward the project, which she deemed "unique and amazing." She said that "Philippine folklore is rich and fascinating," making it more thrilling for her to be part of the key people behind the show.

The other voice actors for the English release are Manny Jacinto, Griffin Puatu, Matt Yang King, Steve Blum, Darren Criss, and Nicole Scherzinger. Their counterparts for the Filipino version are Steve Dela Cruz, Apollo Abraham, Bryan Encarnacion, Jose Amado Santiago, and Cheska Aguiliz.

Trese follows the titular character, who is an "unusual detective." She specializes in crimes related to the supernatural world in the Philippines.

The setting of the anime series centers in Manila, the capital of the country. HITC said that the course of the show will see Alexandra Trese, alongside two mythical creatures, solve and fight supernatural crimes.

Several netizens have expressed their eagerness to witness the new Netflix anime title on various social media platforms since the release of the official teaser trailer. On Twitter, local fans of the original material, also, shared how impressed they are with the animation, as well as with the entire adaptation of the comic series.

The post on the said platform has since amassed over 19,000 likes and hundreds of comments. The 2-minute clip is, also, available on YouTube and Netflix.

Reports said that Netflix first announced the title during the "See What's Next Asia" event in Singapore back on November 18. Two years later, the streaming giant released an update regarding the material with announcements about its arrival.

On Friday, the official trailer confirms that Trese will drop on the platform on June 11.
