The upcoming Attack on Titan special epilogue will solve a big mystery about Mikasa. Aside from giving her a proper ending, Hajime Isayama will reveal the reason behind the mysterious headaches Mikasa experiences.
The manga has officially come to an end, but its final volume is yet to be out. As Isayama has not fully explored the series due to the publication's limitations, he adds up additional pages to Volume 34, along with this Attack on Titan special epilogue.
The extra pages have been leaked online and it includes the answer to Mikasa's headaches. According to Comicbook, she seems to experience this when trying to resonate with Eren's thoughts when using the Founding Titan's power.
So, where does this come from? The new materials reveal it is also Ymir's doing. In the manga's original ending, Eren explains Mikasa's role in it is because of Ymir.
As she sees herself in Mikasa, who holds an incredible love for Eren, she has formed a bond with the Survey Corps. fighter. From here, Ymir decides Mikasa will be the one to save them all by killing the one she truly loves.
In the new Attack on Titan epilogue, Mikasa walks away with Eren's head like in the original ending, but she sees Ymir's silhouette. She talks to her and confirms Ymir looks inside her mind that causes her headaches.
Mikasa tells Ymir her love for King Fritz is like an eternal nightmare. However, with that love and Ymir's kids, she has been given the chance to live.
Elsewhere, the additional pages will also show Mikasa with a new life. As she visits Eren's grave, she can be seen with another man and a child, OtakuKart News noted.
Some assume Mikasa will have a family of her own. The man in the picture is said to be Jean as they seem to have the same hairstyle.
Alternatively, the kid has uncanny similarities with Mikasa, from their looks to their clothes. By the looks of it, she has successfully moved on, though she still visits Eren's grave.
In addition, the second leaked image seems to show Mikasa's death. She lies down in her grave, still wearing the scarf Eren gave her when they were kids.
This seems to prove that Mikasa will forever hold Eren in her heart that she thinks of him wherever she goes. Though she now has a husband, a kid, and a family of her own, Eren will always be her one true love as Attack on Titan officially ends.
