When Calls the Heart season 9 confirmed to be happening on Hallmark Channel. For now, however, it looks like viewers need to wait for a while since the series won't likely return anytime soon. Filming of the next installment, in particular, is in question at the moment.
The cast and crew members haven't begun filming When Calls the Heart season 9. The start of production may not be also announced in advance, something the series has already done in the past. In addition, a lot of things must be considered first before starting everything up.
The previous installment kicked off filming in late July 2020. There are uncertainties at the time, largely because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This has been one of the major reasons why the series has been delayed, as well as other shows out there.
When Calls the Heart season 9 is expected to kick off production in the early summer. But then, there is no guarantee that the schedule will be followed. Aside from getting the official episode, the series may also bring a Christmas Special this 2021, something that's been missing in season 8.
In terms of the release date, nothing is official, as well. Yet, if production could begin in either July or August, there is a huge possibility that the series could follow its usual timeline. Hence, viewers can expect it premiering at some point in early 2022.
Meanwhile, a lot of stories should be addressed in When Calls the Heart season 9. For instance, Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) finally made a huge decision in her romantic life. She chose Lucas (Chris McNally) and their relationship will be in focus in the next outing.
The eighth installment ended with Elizabeth realizing where her heart belongs to. Her complicated love life has been one of the main plotlines, with Lucas and Nathan (Kevin McGarry) vying for her heart and attention. In the end, she made a decision in a shocking twist.
Over the past few episodes, many believe that Elizabeth will choose Nathan over Lucas. However, at the end of season 8, she removed her ring and decided to be with Lucas, instead. Then, the two shared a kiss, which marks that their relationship is now official.
When Calls the Heart season 9 will follow Elizabeth and Lucas as a couple and how their bond becomes stronger. For Nathan, on the other hand, he's still part of the story moving forward. Despite the rejection, he'll remain a good friend to the woman he loves.
