In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Isaac Aptaker teased that This Is Us season 5 finale will answer the questions hanging up in the series since the beginning. Yet, he also said that viewers should be prepared as the series will introduce a new set of questions.
According to Aptaker, the final episode of the fifth installment is "satisfying and twisty." He revealed that they're going to give some big answers, and then, they'll be asking some brand-new questions. The executive producer noted that this "really strikes the perfect balance between the two."
This Is Us season 5 finale is going to feature a huge event, with Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) and Madison Simons (Caitlin Thompson) at the center of it. The two were officially tying the knot, but it looks like there'll be problems during their wedding.
Based on the synopsis, "the family gathers for Kevin and Madison's wedding." Although this is a huge event for the family, the penultimate episode left their relationship in question. Madison, particularly, doubts if everything that's happening is truly right.
There are a lot of questions running through her mind right now, including whether or not Kevin wants to be with her. Originally, Madison wasn't romantically involved with him, and he's previously attached to his ex-wife, Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge).
At the end of Madison's bachelorette party, she witnessed how Kevin refused to answer the question regarding their future in the "Newlywed Game Video". She started to feel insecure because of this, which is why she doubts if it's right for them to get married.
Another concern for their relationship is that Madison hasn't yet appeared in the flash-forward scenes. There is no trace of her in the future, indicating that her marriage with Kevin didn't work out. The two likely fell apart and decided to go on separate ways eventually.
Meanwhile, aside from Kevin and Madison's wedding, This Is Us season 5 finale will also feature another nuptial. In the same interview, Aptaker confirmed that the episode gives "another peek into Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca Pearson's (Mandy Moore) wedding day."
This Is Us season 5 finale will be airing on Tuesday, May 25, on NBC.
