A source from the music world told Page Six the fashion mogul had a thing with the 35-year-old model before his relationship with Kardashian. "He had pursued her a long time ago," the insider reveals.
Long before relationship rumors they were already working together in the fashion and music world. She used to model for his brand Yeezy and appeared in the 2010 music video of his song, "Power."
The 44-year-old rapper also mentioned her name in his track "Christian Dior Flow." However, the romance was only short-lived as Shayk started dating Cristiano Ronaldo in 2010.
Two years later West had a romance with Kardashian.
Though some see them as an "odd pair," others believe they are perfect for each other. Why?
According to HollywoodLife, the alleged couple has "a lot in common. He loves that she is a model because she knows fashion and is very well respected in the industry," a different source told the publication.
It has been known West has officially become a major influence in the fashion world, thanks to his mega-successful brand Yeezy. He also has collaborations with Adidas, like his always-sold-out Boost sneakers and Resin slides.
He is also behind some of the most famous fashion trends, like neutral palettes, leather and streetwear. Alternatively, Shayk has been a significant force in the fashion world.
She has walked for some of the biggest designers out there, from Burberry to Versace and more. She has also dominated the covers of fashion magazines and, not to mention, a walk for Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
"She knows about it differently and more in-depth than (Kim did) when he first met Kim," the tipster adds.
Sure, Kardashian has also made a name in the fashion scene through her loungewear line, SKIMS and beauty line, KKW Beauty. But West is more interested in someone who fully understands the high fashion world, like Shayk.
