Wi Ha-joon is now getting popular after "Squid Game" became one of the most successful shows Netflix released this month. As the K-drama has now become the talk of the town, it dramatically helps the 30-year-old star's fame and career boom.
As expected, the model has successfully captured the attention of many with his role as police officer Hwang Jun-ho. With his charisma, not to mention his sexy body, he has made a lot of women fall in love.
In fact, AllKpop noted he now has more than 3.7 million followers on Instagram, four folds of the number of followers he used to have. There are also a number of good comments and positive responses about the actor on social media and, of course, his stunning photos can be seen here and there. So, who is Wi Ha-joon and how does his career begin?
Wi Ha-joon is a rising star in Korea and has made a number of successful roles in both films and K-dramas, per Marie Claire. He debuted in a 2012 short movie and from there, he started to establish a name as an actor.
His first lead role came in the 2018 film "Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum," a horror movie based on a real-life psychiatric hospital. Though he had been lined up to do protagonist roles, he said in a 2018 interview that he had wanted to play villain characters since he was young.
Thankfully, this happened when he did the 2021 movie "Midnight" and played the role of a serial killer who terrorized a deaf woman. Before this, though, he played several minor roles in different K-dramas, like "Something in the Rain" in 2018, "Romance is a Bonus Book" in 2019 and "18 Again" in 2020.
Of course, Wi Ha-joon's great acting chops never went unnoticed. He got a nomination for a Best New Actor from South Korea's prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards and many might still come on his way.
