Things are getting pretty intense in "The Good Doctor" Season 5. Aside from Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and Lea's (Paige Spara) much-awaited marriage, everyone wants to see the future Shaun has now that he has more authority in the operating room.

Things are now working out fine for Shaun in "The Good Doctor" Season 5. But as things are going well, something awful is about to happen.

The fifth season winter finale put Shaun in another embarrassing situation. After the doctors were forced to band together, a few conflicts emerged.

Would Lea let Shaun do his job? Could she see him struggling if he happens to learn what she did behind his back?

CarterMatt noted that Shaun and Lea witnessed a car accident after visiting a possible wedding venue in the winter finale. Here, they met Alma (Natalee Linez), a young pregnant woman who needed immediate medical attention after sustaining serious injuries.

Alma's condition worsened, forcing Shaun, Dr. Lim (Christina Chang) and Dr. Jordan (Bria Henderson) to deliver the baby despite being premature. Elsewhere, Dr. Glassman (Richard Schiff) became apprehensive when a figure from the past returned to ask for help.

This episode would leave fans a lot of questions that would only be answered when "The Good Doctor" Season 5 returns. However, it may take a little while before Shaun and the rest of the good doctors' comeback for a new set of episodes.

Meanwhile, one of the questions fans need an answer to is about Shaun and Lea's marriage, per Distractify. Viewers have waited for their engagement for almost the entirety of the show.

With that said, showrunner David Shore noted the series' creative team had been working hard to make sure that their journey to marriage life would happen. They also aimed to be as fun as and "true to the heart of the series" as possible.

Shore told TV Insider that the writers' room had just started planning the wedding and he wanted to make it fun for everyone. However, he fancied to do it "The Good Doctor" way and take advantage of Shaun's unique character.

As the show's center, he wanted to get Shaun's insights and perspective on things to reflect in this much-awaited event. So, would they finally exchange vows before the fifth season ends?

It is not far from happening, but a medical emergency may occur to stop the ceremony at the last minute. Sadly, there are no words yet on when "The Good Doctor" Season 5 will return after the winter break.
