Porsche announced a few improvements to its Cayenne SUV, including enhanced infotainment systems and a new Platinum Edition trim. These revisions are identical to those made to Porsche's 2022 Panamera lineup late last year.

The Cayenne Platinum Edition, which debuts this year, adorns the SUV's exterior with exquisite satin platinum finishes. This new model includes 21-inch wheels, sport tailpipes, LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose audio system, eight-way power-adjustable seats, and other goodies as standard.

In terms of design, the Cayenne Platinum Edition features Satin Platinum-painted design accents. The intakes, the rear Porsche logotype integrated into the LED taillight, and the emblems all have these. The set of 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels is also specific to the special edition cars and is finished in Satin Platinum. Black tailpipes and high-gloss black window trim are two further external enhancements.

The 2022 Cayenne Platinum Edition is available in solid white or black paint options, along with metallic tones such as Jet Black, Carrara White, Mahogany, Moonlight Blue, and a special color called Chalk.

The Platinum Edition distinguishes itself from the standard Cayenne with Chalk seat belts and door sill protectors in brushed aluminum with a Platinum Edition inscription. The inside trims are also textured metal, and Porsche crests on the front and rear headrests are standard. Porsche Manufaktur also provides personalization possibilities for the Platinum Edition cars, both inside and out.

The Porsche Communication Management 6.0 interface, situated on a 12.3-inch tablet in the dashboard, makes its way into the Cayenne. PCM 6.0 features a clearer menu structure than its predecessor and, most importantly, provides connected Android Auto connectivity in addition to wireless Apple CarPlay. There's also an integrated Spotify app, and this update will be available to all 2022 Cayenne models.

The Platinum Edition is available to order on six models: Cayenne, Cayenne Coupe, Cayenne S, Cayenne S Coupe, Cayenne E-Hybrid and Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe. Prices for these start at $80,350 on the low end and $95,150 for the E-Hybrid Coupe, including a $1,350 destination charge.

The base Porsche Cayenne is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine that generates 250kW of power and 450Nm of torque. It takes 6.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, which is decreased to 6.0 seconds in the Coupe.

The Cayenne E-Hybrid combines an electric motor and a 17.9kWh lithium-ion battery with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, producing 340kW and 700Nm of torque. 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.0 seconds (5.1 in the coupe).

The Cayenne S has a twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 engine with 324kW of power and 550Nm of torque, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, or 5.0 seconds in the S Coupe.

Porsche now accepts orders for the 2022 Cayenne Platinum Edition. It's expected to arrive at U.S. dealers in Summer 2022.
