Despite its name, the Pink Moon isn't actually pink. According to The Old Farmer's Almanac, the title "Pink Moon" stands for the bloom of ground phlox, a pink flower common in North America. The Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon are some of the other names for it.
The Pink Moon will rise at 7:42 p.m. in New York City. According to timeanddate.com, it was officially full approximately five hours after EDT on Apr. 16. The sunsets at 7:36 p.m. that evening. Because lunar phases are determined by the moon's position about Earth, the hour at which it becomes a full moon varies depending on one's time zone.
Some places will be able to witness the event, such as London, where the full moon appears at 7:55 p.m. The moon rises at 7:45 p.m. local time, and 4:55 a.m. in Melbourne, Australia. The moon rises at 5:45 p.m. local time on Apr. 16.
The sky will be devoid of planets on Apr. 16 when the moon rises higher in the evening. After midnight, though, things alter. Saturn, which rises around 3:50 a.m. from New York City, is the first to appear. the 17th of April Saturn is in the constellation Capricorn, which makes it stand out more stronger. The moon will be low in the western horizon at that time.
At 4:13 a.m., Mars will rise. Venus will appear at 4:36 a.m. Both are in Aquarius, another constellation with few brilliant stars that may be seen from cities.
