The recent appearance of LOONA's Chuu on "Dr. Oh's Golden Clinic" sparked controversy after revealing her eating habits and that she had no income for a year in 2021. So, what is the truth about these revelations?
Fans can't help but think that Chuu is maybe suffering from an eating disorder. However, the k-pop star has already cleared the issue, stressing she has no illness of any kind.
The 22-year-old star admitted to binge eating as her way to cope with stress. She used to eat excessive amounts of spicy foods, which resulted in her frequent hospital visits between July 2021 and May 2022 due to gastrointestinal issues.
She said she was probably brought to the Gangnam Severance Hospital's ER once a month, revealing she had a stomach problem. She added that her binge-eating habit stemmed from her "zero income last year," which seemed to refer to 2021.
The idol added she started binge eating because "she didn't have money to eat what she wanted." She found eating the easiest way to make herself feel better without even trying.
Without exerting too much energy, she just had to pick up a spoon and eat. Due to her financial struggle, she usually ordered one big meal and ate it in one sitting instead of following a regular eating schedule.
Sadly, her lack of income made her unable to eat what she wanted as it would cost her too much, making it more stressful. So, she just opted to order one big, spicy meal and eat it all, which became a habit and "instant stress relief."
As Chuu's revelation resulted in several assumptions, she cleared in a post on her Instagram Story that she didn't suffer from an eating disorder. She posted her statement after the airing of her "Dr. Oh's Golden Clinic" appearance.
The TV personality stressed that the eating disorder allegations weren't true. Though she admitted that she didn't care for her body back then, she's "now doing several recreational activities."
She added that as she wasn't allowed go out in the past and due to her busy schedule, she didn't know how to relieve her stress. "That's why I didn't really take care of my body and ate spicy food," she continued.
Amidst everything said about her, Chuu said she would rather appreciate people supporting her than making stories about her. She then detailed the activities she enjoys, like sports, hobbies, and conversations with people around her.
