The long wait is finally over. Rihanna returns to the music scene with the upcoming release of her new song, "Lift Me Up."

Rihanna teased fans of her return in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, October 26, featuring a teaser for her new music. So, will this come with a new album?

The clip in question features a huge silver "R," while hums from the pop star can be heard playing in the background. It later reveals the date "10.28.22," which is believed to be when the track will officially be out.

However, this may not be part of her new album, as the song is said to be included in the soundtrack of the upcoming Marvel movie "Wakanda Forever," which the studio itself teased on Twitter on Tuesday, October 25. As expected, many celebrate the news on social media, making it a trend and filling her comment second with excitement.

It's also reportedly a musical tribute to the late lead star of the movie, Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular superhero in the first "Black Panther" movie. He died in August 2020 after being diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and quickly progressed to stage IV after just four years.

Meanwhile, Rihanna's return to the music scene is already expected after confirming in September that she will be headlining the 2023 Super Bowl in Phoenix. She, too, will make an appearance in the fourth edition of the Savage x Fenty fashion show for Prime Video.

It has been six years since the Barbarian beauty dropped her last album, "Anti," which made it to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart for two weeks. Her recent hit to the Billboard Hot 100's Top 10 was the song "Love on the Brain," which reached No. 5 in March 2017.

Her most recent Hot 100 Top 10 was DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts" with Bryson Tiller, making it to the No. 2 spot in July 2017. Her most recent chart appearance was when the song "Believe It" with PARTYNEXTDOOR reached No. 23 in April 2020.

Since then, Rihanna has been teasing the coming of her new album, but nothing has come to fruition yet. As of late, she has been reportedly focusing on her personal endeavors.

She's a new mom to a five-month-old son, whom she shares with her partner, A$AP Rocky. Rihanna has also put her focus on her business, Savage x Fenty. That said, a lot has been waiting for her new music.
