"Avatar" fans started the year right with the announcement of a new "Zuko" movie. The franchise's producers have finally confirmed the coming of three films from the franchise and a few series coming along the way.

Though nothing has been revealed yet about the upcoming movies, it was recently confirmed that one of them would be about the Gaang from "Avatar: The Last Airbender." In the first film, they will all be seen as adults, while the second movie will be about Zuko, the Fire Lord.

Series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino assured that none of the three movies would rehash the previously released materials from the franchise. So, all would be new stories.

This means fans are about to see a new tale about Zuko. As the Gaang movie will focus on Aang and the rest of the gang as adults, the "Zuko" movie is also expected to feature a mature Zuko.

However, as Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures have confirmed that the three upcoming movies will be standalone, they wouldn't be part of a trilogy. Hence, the forthcoming "Zuko" movie may focus on a young Zuko dealing with his relationship or his journey to becoming the Fire Lord.

It can also manipulate some of the past events in Zuko's life and see him on an adventure that will expand the franchise's lore. There are also theories that Dante Basco may return as Zuko in the upcoming movie, as he's set to reprise his role as the Fire Prince in the Gaang film.

For starters, the original "Avatar" series had three seasons, running from 2005 to 2008. It featured what was believed to be one of the greatest redemption arcs of all time.

From the sullen Prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko transformed and bent on capturing the Avatar. He had realized his self-worth would never come from his abusive father's approval, which led him to reject his dad and join Avatar to restore world peace.

According to the source that announced the movie, the "Zuko" film might be out a year after the first animated "Avatar" movie would drop in 2025. Hence, it might be seen in 2026.

But this may still change, though it can be considered confirmed as the news comes from sources from Paramount itself. So, fans who want to catch up still have a lot of time to binge-watch the series. From there, they will all be ready to watch the "Zuko" movie when it officially drops.
