A survey in the United States has revealed that the most loyal fan base isn't for acclaimed pop stars such as Elton John or Taylor Swift, but for the K-pop group BTS. The fans, known as the 'Army', have shown unparalleled dedication.
According to US travel information company, Upgraded Points, on the 2nd, BTS fans scored 88.4 out of 100, making them the most loyal among the surveyed star fandoms.
Upgraded Points conducted a survey of 3,192 Americans, asking how far they were willing to travel to see their favorite singers, how much they would spend to do so, and how much of their savings they would withdraw for the opportunity. Based on the responses, loyalty scores were calculated from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 100.
As a result, BTS scored the highest with 88.4 points, followed by Michael Jackson (76.8), Elton John (66.4), Lady Gaga (63.3), Taylor Swift (60.0), and Queen (55.8).
The company explained that BTS fans were willing to travel an average of 2,040 miles (approximately 3,283 kilometers) to attend a concert.
Additionally, it was found that BTS fans were willing to spend an average of $500 (around 660,000 KRW) to see the band members perform live.
Upgraded Points introduced BTS as a K-pop boy band that began gaining fame around 2015 and has a worldwide fan base with high loyalty.
Indeed, it's well known that fans from all over the world, including Korea, Japan, the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia, flock to various BTS concerts and events.
Last month, around 400,000 people attended the 'BTS Festa' held in Yeouido Han River Park in Seoul to commemorate BTS's 10th anniversary of their debut, with foreigners accounting for 120,000 of these attendees.
Following BTS, the fandom with the second-highest loyalty was for the late 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson.
Fans of Michael Jackson were found to be willing to spend an average of $660 (approximately 870,000 KRW) on concert tickets if he were still alive.
