Mamamoo's Hwasa is drawing attention for directly addressing the incident in which she was accused of 'performance indecency.'
Hwasa attended as a guest at the 'Psy Summer Swag' show in Yeosu on July 15.
On stage, Hwasa said, "I was so worried my throat wouldn't hold up," and joked, "I was more worried about that than being accused," lightening the atmosphere at the venue.
Hwasa continued, "Being on stage is so amazing. When you're on stage, all the worries and fears are forgotten," to which the audience erupted in supportive cheers.
Hwasa added, "I will try to gain strength while absorbing good energy. Are you all ready for the final song? Will you go crazy?" showing her confident diva persona on stage.
Earlier in May, Hwasa caused a controversy over sexual content during a performance at a college festival where she was filming for tvN's 'Dance Scavengers.' After licking her finger and then placing it on a certain body part, she became embroiled in a controversy over sexual content. The scene was edited out of the 'Dance Scavengers' broadcast.
Following this, news came out that Hwasa was accused of performance indecency by a group of parents. According to the police, the Student Parents' Rights Protection Alliance submitted a complaint on the 22nd of last month, asking for an investigation into Hwasa for performance indecency. The group stated in their complaint, "Hwasa's actions are enough to cause feelings of shame and disgust in the public who witnessed it by recalling perverted sexual behavior," and "It does not match the context of the choreography, and cannot be interpreted as an artistic act."
