The marriage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has been a subject of global interest since its inception. However, recent comments by British journalist and commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti suggest that Markle's entry into the royal family was a well-thought-out move, aimed at enhancing her global reputation and exposure.
Sacerdoti, in a recent interview with Sky News, expressed his skepticism about Markle's claims of being unaware of the implications of marrying into the royal family. He argued that Markle, who had already achieved some success as an actress, was well aware that her marriage to Prince Harry would catapult her into global fame.
"She grew up with high ambitions and started to reach them as an actress," Sacerdoti said. "She then married Prince Harry, and then she has become probably one of the most known or recognizable names in the world just by marrying somebody."
Sacerdoti further suggested that Markle's decision to marry Prince Harry was not just a romantic choice but also a strategic one. "I think that shows an enormous amount of planning and ambition," he continued. "I don't mean to be totally unromantic - maybe she did fall in love with Harry, maybe their relationship is also one of partnership and love in that respect. But you don't marry into the Royal Family, I think, without knowing what it's going to do to your reputation and your exposure internationally."
In the Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan," Markle shared her experiences and realizations after joining the royal family. She mentioned several things she didn't understand about the firm, including the protocols, Prince Harry's nickname, and the lyrics to the U.K.'s national anthem, "God Save the Queen."
Royal commentator Sarah Robertson echoed Sacerdoti's views during her appearance on TalkTV. She alleged that Markle had always craved an A-list Hollywood lifestyle and believed that marrying into the royal family would elevate her status to that of Princess Diana.
"This is what she's always craved, this A-list Hollywood lifestyle," Robertson said. "She thought marrying into the royal family was going to elevate her to a status of what Princess Diana had, to be the most famous woman in the world, the most talked-about woman in the world, who everyone wants to be affiliated with and wants to be seen with and to do business deals with, which ultimately lines her financial pockets."
These comments have sparked a fresh wave of debate about Markle's motives for marrying Prince Harry. While some believe it was a calculated move to boost her global profile, others maintain that it was a genuine love story. As the debate continues, one thing is clear: Meghan Markle's journey from Hollywood to the royal family has been nothing short of extraordinary.
