TWICE's first sub-unit MISAMO, comprising of Mina, Sana, and Momo, has clinched the top spot on Japan's Oricon daily album ranking with their debut album 'Masterpiece'.
On July 26, JYP Entertainment officially released "Masterpiece"', the debut album of MISAMO, TWICE's first-ever sub-unit group. The mini-album "Masterpiece" dominated the Oricon daily album ranking from July 25 to the 27, proving their overwhelming popularity locally.
Furthermore, as of the afternoon of July 26, the album topped iTunes album charts in 22 regions including Japan, Singapore, and Turkey, and climbed to number 1 on the Worldwide iTunes album chart on both the 25 and 26. The album also took the number one spot on the iTunes Store album ranking and Japan's Line Music Top 100 real-time album ranking on the 26th. All these successes have validated the popularity of MISAMO, the first unit presented by TWICE, dubbed as the "Global Top Girl Group."
To celebrate the release of their debut album, Mina, Sana, and Momo held the "MISAMO JAPAN SHOWCASE 2023" from July 22 to 23 at Intex Osaka Hall 5, and from 25 to 27 at Tokyo Pia Arena MM. The five concerts held in Osaka and Tokyo received approximately 600,000 applications in advance, signaling a huge success in popularity. At the showcase, MISAMO performed all songs from the album, including the title track "Do not touch", "Behind The Curtain", "Marshmallow", "Funny Valentine", "It's not easy for you", "Rewind you", and "Bouquet". The event, featuring unpublished photos, quizzes about MISAMO, and behind-the-scenes album talks, stirred up audience enthusiasm.
On the last day of the Tokyo show on the 27th, a surprise cheering video prepared by TWICE members was screened, and Mina, Sana, and Momo were visibly moved. Furthermore, Nayeon secretly visited the concert venue, warming hearts with her steadfast friendship. The venue was filled with emotion as fans, known as ONCE, held a slogan event congratulating "The birth of MISAMO". In response, Mina, Sana, and Momo said, "Thank you. We look forward to the day we meet again."
The title track "Do not touch" from MISAMO's debut album is an R&B genre song that highlights the captivating charms of the three members, with the lyrics written by JYP's lead producer Park Jin Young. The music video, showcasing the stunning visuals and elegant aura of Mina, Sana, and Momo, is reminiscent of a high-quality "Masterpiece", and it continues to garner love from fans worldwide.
