World-renowned group BTS (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook) is set to continue their journey with HYBE for the third time.
On September 20, Big Hit Music, a label under HYBE and BTS's agency, announced that they have decided to renew the exclusive contracts with all BTS members. Based on this board resolution, sequential contracts will be signed with all members of BTS.
Immediately after the renewal news was officially announced in the afternoon, member RM posted a photo of the exclusive contract on his social media account, along with hashtags promising BTS and ARMY's full-group activities in 2025. This confirmed the members' unanimous decision to renew.
BTS, who debuted in June 2013 through Big Hit Music, is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. They have risen to become South Korea's top artists, creating a global BTS phenomenon. After releasing their anthology album "Proof" last June, members began their solo debuts and started their military enlistments.
Previously, in 2018, BTS had also renewed their contracts with Big Hit Music ahead of schedule. Unlike most idol groups who typically sign a 7-year contract and renew just before its expiration, BTS made headlines by renewing their contracts early, a progressive approach usually reserved for top stars in fields like professional sports.
This renewal was quickly finalized based on the deep affection among the members and their trust in Big Hit Music. Big Hit Music stated that they plan to sign contracts individually and sequentially, considering some members' military service status. The specific contract duration was not disclosed. Members currently serving in the military will have completed their service by 2025, allowing them to participate in the full-group activities that they hope for in that year.
HYBE and Big Hit Music stated, "We will provide all possible support to further strengthen BTS's stature." Unprecedentedly, in gratitude to BTS and their fandom ARMY, they also announced a donation of $1 million to UNICEF Korea. This donation will be made through the "Love Myself" campaign, which BTS started with UNICEF in November 2017.
BTS and Big Hit Music, who know each other best, have laid the foundation to continue their unique music and narrative with this early renewal. As BTS members, who are already achieving top results as solo artists, gear up for their collective return in 2025, fans' anticipation is growing even more.
