Prominent Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon is confronting significant challenges both in her personal life and her business pursuits, prompting concerns from close sources.
The 47-year-old star, who has publicly acknowledged her struggles with anxiety and depression, recently navigated the complexities of her divorce from Jim Toth and faced unexpected financial headwinds with her media company, Hello Sunshine.
"Her entire life is on the ropes," shared an informed source. "Without Jim's support and the business setback, the stress levels are understandably high."
Hello Sunshine, which previously positioned Witherspoon as a formidable Hollywood entrepreneur, encountered a hiccup when Candle Media acquired a significant stake, aiming to transform it into a larger entertainment entity. Unfortunately, the anticipated profits did not materialize.
While some critics direct blame towards Hello Sunshine given Witherspoon's influential role, the insider suggests it's an unfair characterization, stating, "It's not all her fault. But it's undeniably a challenging phase, especially as this company is her passion."
Amplifying her personal distress, Witherspoon recently finalized her divorce from Toth after twelve years, settling on joint custody of their son. She also co-parents two other children with former spouse Ryan Phillippe.
Additionally, sources hint at a lingering impact from a 2011 accident when Witherspoon, jogging near her Santa Monica residence, was struck by a vehicle. Despite the incident leaving her with "minor injuries", the trauma reportedly persists.
Reflecting on her experience filming the 2014 movie Wild, Witherspoon candidly mentioned her struggles, saying, "I was having panic attacks for three weeks before I started. I had hypnosis I was so scared."
As concerns about her well-being rise, those close to her express hope. "The hope is that she seeks the support she requires," the source added. "After all, the trials of Hollywood are never easy."
The Globe magazine reported on the sources' comments.
