In a development that has left the entertainment industry and fans alike in a state of sorrow, the cause of actor Matthew Perry's death remains unresolved. Known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on the beloved sitcom "Friends," Perry passed away in his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54, under circumstances that are still being examined.

The official death certificate, as procured by The Blast, indicates that the determination of Perry's death is postponed, awaiting a thorough investigation and the results of final toxicology reports. This process could extend for several more weeks before a conclusive cause of death is announced.

Despite initial toxicology findings that ruled out the presence of substances like methamphetamine or fentanyl, more comprehensive tests are required to confirm whether any prescription medications were involved. At the time of Perry's untimely demise, the Los Angeles Police Department had responded to a distress call about a potential water rescue at Perry's residence. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered the actor unresponsive. A subsequent inspection of the premises found prescription antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications, alongside medication for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-a treatment for conditions such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Keith Morrison, Perry's stepfather, was listed as the informant on the death certificate, which also confirmed Perry's interment at Forest Lawn in Los Angeles on November 3.

Perry's struggles with addiction were not a secret, as he candidly discussed his battle with alcohol and substance abuse, particularly in his 2022 memoir "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing." He detailed a harrowing experience after his colon burst in 2018, which led him to purchase fentanyl-laced OxyContin off the streets at exorbitant prices. Despite these past tribulations, Perry had claimed sobriety before his death-a statement corroborated by those close to him.

The loss has deeply affected his former "Friends" co-stars, who, in a joint statement, expressed their grief over the passing of someone they considered not just a colleague but family. They shared their intent to privately mourn before speaking more on the matter, asking for space and understanding as they navigate this profound loss.

The impact of Perry's death is felt not only among his immediate circle but by countless fans worldwide who had come to love the actor for his contributions on and off the screen.
