YG Entertainment (hereafter YG) has stated that they will announce the outcome of contract renewal discussions with their popular group BLACKPINK (Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo) at a later date.
On November 14, YG released their quarterly report.
In this report, YG stated, "As of the date of this disclosure, negotiations for renewal of exclusive contracts with artists are ongoing. The final results will be announced through disclosures related to key management matters for investment decisions."
This official statement from YG regarding BLACKPINK's contract renewal comes after approximately two months. BLACKPINK, who debuted in August 2016, has been in renewal talks with YG as their seven-year exclusive contract was set to expire this August.
Speculations have been rife that three BLACKPINK members (Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo), excluding Rosé, have decided not to renew their contracts with YG. There were also rumors about Jennie and Jisoo establishing their own one-person agencies.
Regarding this, YG stated on September 25th to Newsen, "There is nothing confirmed yet regarding BLACKPINK's contract renewal and future activities."
In addition to BLACKPINK, YG Entertainment's roster includes other acts and artists such as AKMU, WINNER, SECHSKIES, Jinusean, TREASURE, BABYMONSTER, actors Kim Hee-ae, Seo Jeong-yeon, Son Naeun, Yoo Seung-ho, Yoo In-na, Lee Sung-kyung, Lee Soo-hyuk, Lee Ho-jung, Jang Ki-yong, Jang Hyun-sung, Jung Hye-young, Cha Seung-won, Jin Kyung, Choi Ji-woo, Han Seung-yeon, and model Joo Woo-jae.
