At the 'MMA 2023', the group NewJeans achieved a significant milestone by winning two grand prizes, 'Artist of the Year' and 'Best Song of the Year', along with 'Best Female Group', 'TOP 10', and 'Millions TOP 10', totaling five awards.
The 15th Melon Music Awards (MMA2023) were held on the afternoon of December 2nd at Incheon Yeongjongdo Inspire Arena.
Best Song of the Year: NewJeans' 'Ditto'
Minji of NewJeans expressed her pride and gratitude for receiving the Best Song award, promising to continue growing and delivering great music as NewJeans. Hani shared her thanks, recalling the healing she felt when she first heard 'Ditto'. Haerin added that she hopes those who are struggling or worried can find warmth in their day by listening to 'Ditto'. Haerin also thanked the fans for their constant love and promised to work hard to reciprocate it.
Album of the Year: IVE's Full Album 'I've IVE'
Yujin from IVE expressed her gratitude for the Album of the Year award, reflecting on the significant awards they received last year and feeling honored and moved by this year's recognition. Wonyoung was surprised and grateful for the unexpected award, noting that everyone goes through moments of doubt about their path but feels empowered knowing that their efforts are being recognized and appreciated.
NewJeans and IVE Sweep 4th Gen Girl Group Awards at MMA 2023: NewJeans Wins Two Daesangs, IVE Takes Home Album of the Year
Liz, moved to tears, thanked DIVE for enabling them to win the Daesang two years in a row. She promised to return with better songs and albums that live up to the Album of the Year award. Gaeul felt honored to be back on the MMA stage with an album created with a strong desire to become better artists after winning last year's Song of the Year award.
Ray, who was tearful, expressed her happiness that their first full album, which they worked on with a lot of pressure and desire to do well, was well-received. She promised to show a stronger IVE with all six members next year.
Artist of the Year: NewJeans
Hyein thanked their fans, the Bunnies, feeling thankful and realizing the need to show continued growth. Minji expressed her gratitude for an unforgettable year with the Bunnies and for the awards that will make the end of the year warm, promising to strive to be an even more exciting NewJeans.
Record of the Year: NCT DREAM
Mark from NCT DREAM was surprised to receive the award, thanking his members and the production team. He shared their commitment to preserving the value of music in an era of abundant and easily replaceable music and asked fans to look forward to their future work.
Renjun expressed his happiness in seeing fans enjoy their music and mentioned the challenges of creating albums. Jisung thanked their company for keeping the team of seven together and promised to work harder without causing worry. Jeno expressed his gratitude to the fans for allowing them to be on stage, vowing to be an artist who can always perform as long as they have their fans.
Haechan thanked their parents for bringing them into the world and promised to show great performances in the future, while Jaemin recognized the award as belonging to the fans, without whom it would not exist.
