Following the full enlistment of BTS members, EXO's youngest member, Sehun, is also set to enlist, with the group's complete return anticipated post-2025.
On December 11, BTS members RM and V entered the Nonsan Army Training Center in Chungnam to begin their active-duty service. The following day, on the 12th, Jimin and Jungkook commenced their military lives by enlisting at the Army's 5th Division in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province.
With this, all seven members of BTS, starting with Jin's enlistment in December last year, followed by J-Hope in April this year, and Suga beginning his alternative service as a public service worker in September, have now embarked on fulfilling their military obligations.
BTS members had expressed their intention to minimize the hiatus due to military service by rapidly enlisting and discharging within a year, showcasing their commitment to solo activities and a swift return to group activities. Particularly, members like Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who enlisted at a relatively young age for celebrities, showed strong determination for a complete group comeback.
The expected discharge for all BTS members is in June 2025. This year marks the 10th anniversary of their meaningful 'Hwa Yang Yeon Hwa' series album, and the members have hinted at activities to commemorate the 10th anniversary post-discharge, following their re-signing with Big Hit Music. The resumption of full-group activities immediately after discharge is highly anticipated by fans.
On December 13, EXO's Sehun announced his enlistment. Sehun will begin his service as a public service worker on the 21st.
In a handwritten letter to the fan community, Sehun expressed, "I'm sorry to bring this news to EXO-L (fandom name) so late." He shared that he spent recent times reflecting on himself and stated, "I hope you can understand, even a little, that I couldn't greet you in person before leaving."
Sehun is the last EXO member to fulfill his military duty. EXO, excluding Kai and Sehun, has already seen its members complete their service. Kai, who enlisted in May, completed his basic military training and is currently serving as a public service worker. Both are expected to be discharged before 2025, making a full-group reunion of EXO also likely after 2025.
