BTS member Jungkook filled a special commemorative plate, marking 1 billion streams on Spotify, with tuna gimbap and jangjorim (soy-braised beef).
On December 19th, Spotify released a video titled 'Spotify Billions Club: The Series featuring Jung Kook' on their official account. According to Spotify, Jungkook entered the 'Daily Top Song Global' chart at number one with his solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)' released last July. The song also secured the 3rd spot as 'The Most Streamed Song Globally of the Summer 2023', ranking 3rd on the 'Most Streamed K-Pop Artist Globally' chart, and became the most streamed Korean song of the year, surpassing 1 billion streams.
In celebration, Jungkook received a special plate from Spotify for surpassing 1 billion streams. Examining various snacks, he discovered the plate and said, "In honor of receiving this for 'Seven,' I will now select my favorite seven items. I love tuna gimbap. It takes the center stage."
Jungkook added, "As ARMY may know, I love banana milk. I don't get many chances to eat jangjorim. And Home Run Balls are delicious when air-fried, or from the freezer. There's spicy shrimp chips here, but I chose gochujang shrimp chips out of curiosity."
He also shared the backstory of working on 'Seven.' "Bang Si-hyuk PD (Chairman of HYBE) showed me a song. It was so good. I wondered 'What if I ruin such a great song.' I wasn't working on any album then, but after hearing 'Seven,' I stopped my break and quickly recorded it, shot the music video, and did the jacket shoot. I think I pushed hard because ARMY has been waiting for so long," he recalled.
Jungkook's other selections included japchae and castella. "Japchae is delicious. I didn't have many opportunities to enjoy such tasty food when I was younger. After practice, I remember buying milk when I really wanted it. These two (banana milk and castella) would be great together," he said.
Finally, Jungkook expressed his gratitude to his fans, saying, "You all are amazing. I am so grateful to ARMY. It's all thanks to you."
Previously, Jungkook, along with his BTS members, surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify in July 2021 with the single 'Dynamite' released in August 2020. This was the first time a Korean artist achieved this milestone with a single track on Spotify. At that time, BTS filled their commemorative Spotify plate with the Korean traditional dish bibimbap.
