Jenna Bush Hager's constant digs at veteran Hoda Kotb on the "Today" show have caused tension on the set of the morning gabfest, which might escalate into an all-out conflict, a new report claimed.
In their most recent on-air argument, Jenna, 42, humiliated Hoda, 59, by accusing her of "stalking" Jerry Seinfeld. "Did you know that Hoda used to stand outside your apartment building?" Jenna asked the 70-year-old comedian during their Social Dilemma segment.
Hoda attempted to hush Jenna, urging her, tongue in cheek, not to go into "my dark past." However, Jenna appeared to relish the opportunity to press the issue.
“She used to just wait outside and hope she could get a glimpse of you,” Jenna added. Hoda appeared to laugh it off, but sources told The National Enquirer that she was not pleased.
Jerry was cordial enough to comment that being stalked by Hoda was "the nicest thing I've heard all day," which Jenna termed "a little creepy." Hoda laughed once more, but according to an insider, she's weary of Jenna playing on her.
“They seemed like they were getting along for a while, but lately their nerves are snapping,” the informant said. Hoda and Jenna have been on Today's fourth hour for five years, but according to a source, Jenna feels neglected since she works in Hoda's shadow.
To add insult to injury, Hoda earns more than triple Jenna's $4 million annual salary. As previously reported, the unpleasant scenario has viewers and staff members turning against Jenna.
“Things are so bad bosses have demanded Jenna start playing nice,” the spy stated.
Business Times has reached out to Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb for comments about their supposed spat.
Meanwhile, Hoda and Jenna discuss how they celebrate Mother's Day every day. In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE, the “Today with Hoda & Jenna” co-hosts discussed their holiday plans.
“Jenna’s going to be home. She’s going to spend her [wedding] anniversary here and then go home for Mother’s Day. And my kids are going to come here on Friday, we’re going to fly home and my mom is across the street from me so we’re going to spend the rest of it [with her]. So it’ll be fun,” Kotb stated.
When asked if the two still enjoy and appreciate Mother's Day, Kotb strongly agrees.
“I love it. I love it. I mean, I’ve only got to have seven in my life, but I didn’t think I’d have one, so to have seven is like, you’ve got to be kidding me. So it is the greatest unexpected joy that I get to have in my life,” Kotb shared.
“To hear even your kids say 'Mama.' And the thing is, yes we love the day but also I hear Hoda talking to her kids every single day. And it’s like, even the phone call at 7:30 a.m. and seeing their faces is something we do not take for granted,” Jenna added.
Kotb has two daughters, Hope, 4, and Haley, 7, while Bush Hager has three children: Mila, 11, Poppy, 8, and Hal, 4.
