After being convicted last month on 34 counts of falsifying company paperwork by a jury, Donald Trump became the first former President of the United States to be found guilty of a crime.

Prior to the 77-year-old's sentencing hearing on Thursday, July 11, Fox News contributor Jonathan Turley stated that it would be "absurd" for Judge Juan Merchan to imprison him, as per The Hill.

Jonathan drew attention to the fact that the jury and judge were among those who knew Donald's identity before his trial.

"They either love him or they hate him. I’ve never met anyone in the middle of those two camps. And so I don’t think that the needle is going to move much here. But it also would be absurd to send him to jail,” the legal analyst stated.

"He is an elderly first offender, nonviolent crime, and a very controversial prosecution. This whole case could be overturned ultimately, on appeal. I think that Judge Merchan would be considerably outside the navigational beacons to send him to even a day in jail,” he added.

Along with claiming that he wouldn't be "surprised" if Juan decided to impose a prison sentence, Jonathan also charged that the judge was "really quite biased in terms of his rulings."

A New York jury found Trump guilty of fabricating company records pertaining to a $130,000 payment made to Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election, as OK Magazine reported.

The contentious politician vowed to challenge the verdict after being found guilty and referred to the judge as "corrupt."

"The real verdict is gonna be November 5th by the people. We have a Soros-backed DA and the whole thing, we didn't do a thing wrong. I'm a very innocent man,” Donald said after the ruling.

On Saturday, June 8, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the troubled former president for his repeated tirades over his legal problems during her speech at the Michigan Democratic Party Legacy Dinner.

"Donald Trump openly tried to overturn the last election. And now, he openly attacks the foundations of our justice system. "Following his conviction in New York last month, Trump has been claiming the whole trial was rigged. That's false. Just look at the facts. Over the course of six weeks, a jury of 12 Americans reviewed the evidence. His defense attorney actively participated in selecting that jury. And actively made decisions about which witnesses to call and cross-examine. And the jury came back with a unanimous decision. Guilty on 34 counts,” Kamala stated.

“You know why he complains? Because the reality is, cheaters don’t like getting caught. And since the verdict, he attacks the judge and the witnesses. He suggests the case could be a ‘breaking point’ for his supporters, hinting at violence. He spreads lies that our Administration is controlling this case when everyone knows it was a state prosecution. And he says that he will use a second term for revenge,” the VPOTUS added.
“Simply put, Donald Trump thinks he is above the law. This should be disqualifying for anyone who wants to be President of the United States,” Kamala concluded.

Donald Trump has yet to respond to Kamala Harris’ comments.
