An ongoing schism between royal brothers Prince William and Prince Harry appears to be showing no signs of healing, and a book about their quarrel alleges that Prince William was apprehensive of Meghan Markle from the very beginning of their relationship.
"There have been times in this past year when [Prince] William has looked incredibly alone, shouldering the responsibility of being a son whose father has cancer, a husband caring for his wife as she also deals with cancer, a father of three young children... and who has no brother or mother to turn to for a bit of TLC,” former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine.
Prince William is said to have expressed to a friend that he believed Meghan had an "agenda," and that he felt "hurt" and "betrayed" by the falling out between her and his wife, Princess Kate, who had been unfavorable toward Meghan "from the beginning."
In the book “Battle of the Brothers,” written by Robert Lacey, it was stated that Prince William expressed his belief that Meghan was intentionally pulling his beloved brother away from him. In addition to this, he was of the opinion that Meghan was not aware of the functioning of the royal system, as per The Mirror.
A courtier at Kensington Palace was described by Lacey as stating, “Meghan portrayed herself as the victim, but she was the bully. People felt run over by her. They thought she was a complete narcissist and sociopath — unhinged.” Additionally, the author stated that he is of the opinion that Prince William would have considered Meghan to have an "agenda" and would have expressed his worries to his brother Prince Harry prior to the engagement between the two of them.
Since the scandalous interview that Prince Harry and Meghan gave on Oprah in 2021, which was a year after their stunning departure from the Royal Family, tensions have been increasing. They reached their highest point following their very controversial documentary series that was released on Netflix. During their conversation, the duo made a number of shocking statements regarding Prince William and Princess Kate. No action has ever been taken by the Firm in response to these assertions.
In his memoir titled "Spare," Prince Harry shared his side of the tale regarding his wife's friendship with Princess Kate. He also disclosed confidential facts regarding a disagreement that occurred between Meghan and Prince Harry. Throwing another dagger, the Duke of Sussex offered his side of the story.
He claimed that Princess Kate "grimaced" when Meghan borrowed her lipgloss, and that the two ladies had a fight when the Duchess of Sussex suggested that William's wife had "baby brain" after the birth of Prince Louis. He also stated that the women had a disagreement.
The book "Spare" written by Prince Harry was published in January 2023, and it has been claimed that Prince Harry and Prince William have not communicated with one another since then. In a discussion on the rift that exists between the two brothers, royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News that Prince William has effectively "banned" Prince Harry from returning to the royal fold.
"It is widely known within the family that Prince William has laid down an absolute ban on Harry returning in any way, shape or form into his former royal family fold," she said.
