The property that Ellen DeGeneres owned in Carpinteria, California, was sold to Robert Friedland, a business magnate located in Singapore, for the sum of $96 million, a new report claimed.

The former talk show presenter, who is now 66 years old, purchased the home in 2022 for a price of $70 million. It is located on Padaro Lane, which is considered to be one of the most expensive and exclusive locations in the region.

“It’s unknown if Ellen and [her wife] Portia [de Rossi, 51] even lived in the house. Flipping houses is like a hobby to them; they collect homes like sports fans collect baseball cards. It sounds exhausting, but there’s a part of Ellen that enjoys the chaos of buying and selling,” an unnamed source told In Touch Weekly.

One week after the entertainment news outlet made the exclusive revelation that Ellen went into isolation in response to claims that she was rude to her crew on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the news of the sale has now been made public. After 19 seasons, Ellen made the decision to terminate her long-running talk show in May of 2021, citing the scandal as the reason for her decision.

On August 1, she had previously disclosed that she had been canceled during a stop on her “Ellen's Last Stand... Up" tour that was scheduled to take place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York Daily News reported.

During the course of her performance, Ellen reminisced that she had been referred to as the "most hated person in America" after years of being the celebrity that people "most want to babysit" their children. After that, she went on to explain that she sought assistance from a professional in light of the criticism, and that the specialist recommended her to "avoid all media."

Ellen later stated in her encore that she had not anticipated performing comedy again, and she said that she did not believe she would be able to "talk about what happened." She added that the issue caused her to lose her "sense of humor," despite the fact that she described the experience of being canceled as "painful and sad."

Ellen claimed that she finally got the strength to "heal" when she began creating jokes again after she appeared to have reached her lowest point. She went on to say that leaving the "bubble in Hollywood" was the catalyst that enabled her to become aware of the "amount of support" she was still receiving from her loved ones throughout her life.

Following her most recent comedy tour, an anonymous insider revealed to In Touch Weekly in an exclusive interview that the "Finding Nemo" star will not shy away from discussing any subject.

“The show felt very much like her redemption tour and a confessional. She seemed a little bruised from her fall from grace but not broken. [After stepping out of the spotlight, Ellen leaned on Portia and] took time to reflect on her life, the good and the bad. This standup tour is about finally coming clean and explaining the truth behind all the rumors, including some jaw-dropping secrets she hid from the world,” the informant said to the tabloid.

During her time away from the entertainment industry, Ellen was able to concentrate on herself and, in addition, she gained valuable knowledge regarding her health.

“She said she’s always been meticulous and organized, but revealed a secret: Her therapist and Portia told her she actually has OCD, like her father, and that may have contributed to negative impressions of her,” the tipster explained.
