In an open and honest interview with Vanity Fair, Selena Gomez revealed that she has always had the desire to begin a family by the time she is 35 years old. The "Single Soon" singer, who is 32 years old, has disclosed that she will not become a mother in a conventional manner.
“I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve,” the Disney alum explained.
Despite the fact that she suffers from both lupus and bipolar disorder, Selena has stated that she is currently in a "much better place" regarding the problem.
“I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me. [I am] really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different,” Selena stated, noting that her own mother, Mandy Teefey, 48, was adopted.
In spite of the fact that it was a courageous confession, the star of "Only Murders in the Building" has been similarly candid about her various health difficulties over the course of her career.
“While the thought of not being able to give birth on her own still hurts at times, she’s moving on. Selena says she refuses to give up on being a mother one day,” an unnamed source told Life & Style Magazine.
Benny Blanco, her boyfriend of more than a year, has been quite encouraging during this entire process. “I’ve never been loved this way,” she gushed about the music producer.
“[Selena] was up-front with him when they started to get serious, so Benny always knew about her so-called limitations. He gave her the courage to talk about it publicly because there’s absolutely no shame in it,” the anonymous insider stated.
In addition, many who are closest to the couple would not be surprised in the least if Selena's aspirations to have a family materialize well before the deadline for her 35th birthday. “Selena and Benny have definitely talked about both adoption and surrogacy. They might have even started at least one of the processes already,” the undisclosed informant said.
The shock jock Howard Stern expressed his desire that Benny and Selena will get married in May, and Benny, who is 36 years old, responded by saying, "You and me both."
Following the passage of three months, the couple became the subject of engagement rumors as she made it a point to conceal that finger on Instagram. “The plan is to have a wedding first and babies after, but not much later. [If an opportunity for parenthood arose earlier], they would have no problem welcoming a child before tying the knot,” the tipster said.
In either case, they have started talking about names for the kids. “The ones Benny comes up with are pretty wild, and Selena just rolls her eyes. While she wants a classic name for a girl, Selena claims she’ll let Benny pick a boy’s name … within reason,” the mole shared.
The most crucial thing is that Selena is aware that she will be pleased in any way that she becomes a mother. “At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be my baby,” she told Vanity Fair.
