Jennifer Aniston is one of the most well-known dog enthusiasts in Hollywood. She has been the proud owner of a wonderful canine companion since the late 1990s, and she is now making her debut in the world of children's books through her passion for dogs.
“Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life” is the title of the first of the four children's books that the celebrity, who is 55 years old, is going to publish on October 1. The book is based on her own rescue dog, Clyde, and it is the first of her four novels that feature the animated dog Clydeo.
In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, the dog mom-of-two (she also owns rescue Lord Chesterfield) discussed the forthcoming book as well as her quest to raise animals, which began with her first two puppies, Norman and Dolly. She also mentioned that she is the owner of Lord Chesterfield.
Thinking about Norman, who passed away in 2011, and Dolly, who passed away in 2019, caused the actress to have some feelings of emotion. "You mention them, and I get a lump in my throat," she stated.
Nevertheless, as Jennifer reflected on the process by which she discovered Norman, she disclosed that she had actually first encountered him many years before when he made an appearance on the television show "Friends," of all places.
"Norman was my first. And it was just a fluke. He was in a scene with Joey and Chandler on ‘Friends’ when they left baby Ben on the bus," she recalled. The episode in question was from Season 2 Episode 6, titled "The One With the Baby on the Bus," released in 1995.
"They were running through the streets and ran into a dog walker that had all these dogs. Norman was one of them, and I just fell in love," the actress added.
Jennifer recalled the conversation she had with the dog trainers while she was working on the set:
"'Well, he's not getting hired because he doesn't really hit his mark.' So I jokingly said, 'I’ll take him.'"
"And they said, 'Absolutely.' And then I kind of had that moment of, 'Oh God, am I really?' And then that was it. I got the addiction to dogs and what they bring to you. Cut to now wanting to rescue all shelter puppies in the world," Jennifer went on.
In addition, DogTime.com reported Jennifer disclosed that she intended to accomplish this very same thing with the assistance of The Clydeo Fund, which she is establishing in order to provide assistance to animal rescue organizations all over the world that are going through difficulties due to a lack of cash and infrastructure.
She intended to "create a fund where we can donate to these animals all over the world and inspire people to just throw in a dollar. It all adds up. We can get awareness out and help the shelters that are in desperate need."
"We can help these animals, and we can get awareness out, and help the shelters that are in desperate need of upkeep because they're falling apart," she added.
Additionally, Jennifer is quite active in sharing videos on the internet of dogs and other animals that are housed in shelters, as per Hello Magazine. She is pleading with her enormous fans to consider adopting these animals or spreading the love.
"They can't keep up. And all you see is that we're euthanizing innocent, beautiful, perfectly, perfectly fine two-year-old dogs, or a puppy, or a litter. I can't. It's too much. It's too many," she went on.
