Now that the 68-year-old actor from "Dark Knight" is criticizing his sister's acting abilities in his new biography, the already icy relationship between Julia Roberts and her older brother, Eric, has reached a new level of tension!
Just months after revealing in an interview that Julia had instructed him not to discuss her in public, Eric admitted, "But I do!"
Despite his apology for an interview in 2018 in which he claimed credit for Julia's popularity and admitted that he had made it up, he criticized her performance in the 1989 film "Steel Magnolias," which earned Julia her first nomination for an Academy Award, Us Weekly reported.
“I don't want to sound like an actor talking, or a jealous sibling, but I don't think her performance held up in that movie,” Oscar-nominated actor Eric wrote, describing Julia's performances in Mystic Pizza and "Pretty Woman," respectively.
The frequently unhappy Eric, who was excluded from Julia's life for more than twenty years before the two came to an uneasy reconciliation in 2004, also repeats strange stories about Julia, including the idea that the siblings had an incestuous relationship.
According to a source, Julia is reportedly seeing red as a result of Eric's new book.
"Julia is 12 years younger than Eric and he had already moved out of the house by the time she was in second grade," the source told The National Enquirer. "She says Eric actually knows very little about her, and that he used her life to help sell his book is unforgivable - but she won't tell him so. She would rather never speak to him again!"
The sibling rivalry between Julia and Eric began in the 1990s, and it was fueled by Eric's addiction as well as problems within the family.
Eric's addiction to cocaine, which reached its peak during the custody battle he was engaged in over his daughter Emma, was a significant factor that contributed to the dissolution of his relationship with Julia, E! Online reported.
As a result of Julia's strong support for Emma's mother, Kelly Cunningham, during the custody battle, the relationship between the siblings became strained. After some time had passed, Eric admitted that his addiction was the cause of his family isolating themselves from him, particularly Julia and their sister Lisa.
