In spite of Fran Drescher's arrival, the New York set of the film starring Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow has gone from a friendly and relaxed environment to a hectic one.
After a five-year hiatus from the film industry, Gwyneth is making her triumphant return to the big screen with the film "Marty Supreme." Set in the 1950s, it is largely based on the table tennis star Marty Reisman, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Last week, the 52-year-old actress captured the public's attention when she recorded a passionate kissing scene with Timothée, who is 28 years old. But the fact that Fran, the iconic character from "The Nanny," has been cast as Timothée's mother is taking some of the shine off Gwyneth's much-anticipated comeback.
"Fran's arrival on set has certainly changed the dynamics completely because up until that point, Gwyneth was the queen bee," one source with ties to the production told New Idea Magazine.
Currently serving as the president of the media union SAG-AFTRA, Fran is 67 years old. Meaning she is "top dog on the acting circuit", the source explained. "Even Gwyneth has been bowing and scraping to her."
However, it is possible that there will not be enough space on the set for two top dogs for a considerable amount of time.
"Fran is definitely lapping it up, but there's only so far you can push Gwyneth," the source added.
The insider claimed that the actress from "Shakespeare in Love" has been on a charm offensive. This means that she has been exceptionally kind to everyone during the process of staking her territory, and it is working.
"She has Timothée eating out of her hand. He's in awe of her as an Oscar-winning actress, something Fran's never come even close to doing," the insider revealed.
On the other hand, they caution that forcing her coworkers to pick a side could ultimately backfire on Gwyneth personally.
Although her efforts to win over everyone are admirable, the spy pointed out that if she begins to try to make others take sides, it will be counterproductive. Gwyneth has been absent from film sets for such a considerable amount of time, so the executives are already experiencing some difficulties.
Although it is not anyone's intention to make either of these ladies angry, it is becoming simpler to keep them apart. The informant proceeded by saying that although they are cordial with one another, resentment builds up whenever one of them receives more attention than the other.
Meanwhile, Apple Martin, Gwyneth's daughter, is one of the people who will not be pleased with the hot scenes that she has been having with Timothée, as per The Guardian. This is in addition to Kylie Jenner, who is Timothée's girlfriend. Apple, who is twenty years old, is said to have had a "crush" on Timothée "for years" and convinces her mother to participate in the film so that she might meet him.
As an insider previously mentioned, Apple persuaded Gwyneth after she read the script and fell in love with it, even though she did not have a significant desire to perform at the moment.
