Brad Pitt disclosed the sum his former wife, Angelina Jolie, received for her stake in their family winery. A new report claims the actor is seeking to have the agreement rendered null and void by the court.
Brad, 60, alleged in court documents obtained by In Touch Weekly that Angelina, 49, was compensated a substantial eight-figure sum to sell her investment in Château Miraval.
In 2008, Brad and Angelina acquired Miraval to transform the winery into a family enterprise. Brad stated that he invested a significant amount of time and money in establishing a successful wine business.
Brad and Angelina each owned 50% of Miraval. Angelina acquired her shares through her LLC, Nouvel. Brad acquired his interest through his LLC, Mondo Bongo.
The couple separated in 2016 following an alleged incident on a private aircraft. Brad stated that Angelina discussed a buyout of her stake in Miraval after the divorce, with their "discussions progressing intermittently into January 2021."
Brad and his staff had reached a "very advanced stage" in the negotiations, as the parties had agreed on a price. As evidenced by court documents, they also submitted a $54.4 million proposal to Angelina. The initial payment of $46 million and the remaining $8.5 million were to be distributed over six years.
Nevertheless, OK! Magazine suggested Brad claims that Angelina withdrew from the negotiations a few months later, “feigning concern over the terms of a proposed non-disparagement agreement in connection with the deal.”
Brad rejects this claim. His attorney presented a claim that “This was the pretext. In reality. [Angelina] and Nouvel had covertly lined up and tentatively struck a deal with a third party: the Stoli Group, owned and controlled by Russian billionaire, Yuri Shefler, and its subsidiary Tenute del Mondo.”
While negotiations with Brad were still in progress, Terry Bird, as manager of Nouvel, signed a Confidentiality Agreement with Stoli. This agreement required Stoli to maintain the confidentiality of all information, including "the fact that discussions and/or negotiations relating to the proposed transaction are taking place."
Brad stated that Angelina and her new partners at Stoli had mutually consented to maintain his confidentiality regarding their discussions. His motion then disclosed the amount of money that Angelina received for her stake.
His attorney wrote, “On September 24, 2021, the Defendants consummated their tortious plan, with [Stoli] agreeing to purchase Nouvel (and thereby its interest in Miraval) from [Angelina] for $64 million.”
Brad disclosed the information during a recent exchange in his lawsuits. The actor claimed in his lawsuit that Angelina was obligated to obtain his consent before selling to a third party. Additionally, he accused Yuri and Stoli of attempting a hostile acquisition of the company.
Angelina rejects this claim and has requested that the lawsuit be dismissed. Nouvel accused Brad of misusing Miraval's assets for vanity projects and filed a $350 million countersuit against him. Brad rejected the allegations. The lawsuit is ongoing.
The email Angelina sent Brad on January 21, 2021, informing him that she desired to leave, was submitted as evidence in the lawsuit.
Angelina withdrew her lawsuit against the FBI, USA Today reported. The actress requested specific documents regarding the FBI's investigation into Brad regarding the infamous incident that occurred on a private plane on September 14, 2016, prior to the couple's divorce.
