As her global Eras Tour winds down, Taylor Swift becomes emotional.
When the 34-year-old pop singer sang "Champagne Problems" at her most recent engagement in Toronto on Saturday, November 23, she broke down onstage and got a standing ovation, as Geo.TV reported.
"Toronto, we're at the very end of this tour so you doing that, you have no idea how much it means to me and to my..." Swift said to fans from the Rogers Centre stage in a video that a fan uploaded to TikTok. She then seemed to become very emotional and turned away from the audience for a moment before turning back as they applauded.
“It’s not even the last show!” Swift joked while laughing, before adding. “My band, my crew, all of my fellow performers, we have put so much of our lives into this. And you’ve put so much of your lives into being with us tonight and to giving us that moment that we will never forget."
“We’ve loved our time in Toronto, it's been so amazing,” Swift continued before stopping again and tearing up.
“I love you guys. Thanks so much for that,” she concluded.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, the fan-favorite “Evermore” song was followed by a standing ovation that lasted for many minutes as the singer performed her sixth and final sold-out Eras Tour event on Saturday.
Later, during the 45-song setlist's "secret songs" section, Swift gave two unexpected acoustic mashups.
After performing a mashup of "Sparks Fly" and "Message in a Bottle" on an acoustic guitar, the 14-time Grammy winner performed a mashup of "You're Losing Me" and "How Did It End" on an acoustic piano.
“Every part of you that you’ve ever been, every phase you’ve ever gone through, was you working it out in that moment with the information you had available to you at the time. There’s a lot that I look back at like, ‘Wow, a couple years ago I might have cringed at this.’ You should celebrate who you are now, where you’re going, and where you’ve been," Swift told TIME Magazine in a December 2023 profile of revisiting her old tracks.
Her Eras concerts have also become a venue for her friends and family to gather, including her parents, brother, and celebrity best friends like Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid. The trip served as the impetus for Swift's introduction to her partner, NFL tight end Travis Kelce.

According to social media footage from the performance, Travis Kelce's father, Ed, was seen at the show on Saturday, exchanging friendship bracelets with fans in the arena. He was also captured on camera standing close to Swift's mother, Andrea Swift, in the VIP area during the performance.
Travis and Swift had been dating for more than a year when his father is spotted at the performance. Canada greeted the diva with wide arms before the singer began her tour of Toronto concerts on November 14.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau even shared a Reputation-inspired welcome message on X, formerly Twitter.
“We’re ready for you, @taylorswift13. Good choice wrapping the Eras Tour in Canada. Has this always been your endgame? #TorontoVancouver,” Trudeau wrote, referencing Swift’s “...Ready For It?” and “End Game.”
In the meantime, a massive friendship bracelet from the previous two Eras Tour stops in Indianapolis and New Orleans was ceremoniously handed down from Rogers Centre to the stadium.
Swift will play three last performances in Vancouver on December 6, 7, and 8 to wrap out the Eras Tour, which began in March 2023.
Both fans and critics expressed their opinions on Twitter over the evening's occurrences. “I cried when Taylor cried. She’s giving us everything, and I’m not ready for this to end," an X user wrote. “Her tears were real, but so is her bank account. How relatable can she really be?” another netizen commented.
“Taylor breaking down during Champagne Problems? I’m sobbing uncontrollably. She’s a QUEEN," a third source suggested. “Travis Kelce’s dad exchanging bracelets? Swifties stay winning," another X user responded.
“Justin Trudeau quoting Reputation? Canada officially wins the Eras Tour vibe check. #TorontoTaylor” a fifth netizen shared. “When Taylor said, ‘You have no idea,’ I felt that. She’s truly the artist of our generation," another X user furthered.
