Khloe Kardashian disclosed in a recent interview that she had previously employed a therapist who sold confidential information to publications. This revelation prompted her to reevaluate her ability to trust others.
The reality star and entrepreneur, who has been the subject of backlash for her alleged plastic surgery, the extravagant party she hosted for her niece Dream's birthday, and her voting habits, made the outrageous claim in a recent interview. She was also labeled a hypocrite.
She disclosed her life, which has involved numerous incidents that were captured on her family's numerous reality television programs, during an interview with Bustle as she approaches her forties (she turned 40 in June).
Nothing appeared to be off-limits in terms of subject matter, from her motivation for going to the gym and losing weight to her chaotic love life, which included her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, and the father of her children, Tristan Thompson. She discussed everything from becoming a mother to these topics.
This involved the therapist's account, who she believed betrayed her trust.
"My weight loss journey started because I was getting a divorce. I remember I was gin to therapy and the next thing I knew, something private I told my therapist was on a tabloid," she stated.
"And I knew that my therapist disclosed this information to a tabloid because there's no way this could have gotten out there," she persisted. "So, I stopped going to therapy and started going to the gym. I needed a release, but I did not trust anybody else anymore. And the place that I felt the safest was the gym."
"It was very jarring and sort of unbelievable, but there's not a chance in the world that it came from anywhere else," she added.
Nevertheless, she acknowledged that she had initially discontinued therapy; however, she has since been persuaded to resume it, commencing at the age of 39.
"She's really lovely and I really like her," she stated. "It's actually Kim's therapist."
"Kim was really adamant. I was like, 'I'll do this for you. 'I dragged my feet and then I was like, 'Wow, OK, this is good. I needed this,'" she persisted.
"And my therapist was like, 'I think you should come three days a week,'" she added. "She was like, 'You really need to be here.' It all worked out."
Khloé stated that her 40s had been everything she was hoping for, thanks to the assistance of her therapist.
"When you're young, you think 40 is so old, and now I'm like, 'Wait - I feel so good!'" she stated. "I am in the best shape of my life. I'm doing new career stuff. I've only been 40 for about six months, but it's the absolute best."
The upcoming podcast host stated that she doesn't "give a s-t" about some issues that previously caused her anxiety.
"Intentionally, at 39, I tried to close a lot of chapters," she elaborated. "I called it 'shedding' - shedding this decade of my 30s and this energy I wanted to leave behind. There are so many new things that I'm doing in my first year of 40 that I know for a fact my 40s and on are going to be f-king incredible."
The disclosure of the therapist's treachery has elicited sympathy and condemnation online.
“This is a horrifying breach of trust. Mental health professionals must face stricter accountability measures," a netizen said. “Turning to the gym after such betrayal shows Khloé’s resilience. Inspiring!” another X user shared.
“How does this even happen? Scandalous and unacceptable!” a third source stated. “She’s been through so much. Proud of her growth and openness about mental health," a fan commented.
“This story is a wake-up call for ethical practices in therapy," an X user penned. “Another Kardashian ‘bombshell.’ Is this genuine or just another publicity stunt?” another netizen wrote.
