An unexpected clash is unfolding within Trump's base after J.D. Vance signaled he would not endorse unconditional pardons for every Jan. 6 rioter. Supporters argue the vice president-elect is betraying people he once rallied, prompting sharp criticism and vows of political fallout from aggrieved activists.
MAGA Supporters Turn Against J.D. Vance Over January 6 Pardons
A lot of loyal MAGA movement members, including rioters from January 6, have made Donald Trump's number two their primary goal.
Those who participated in violent crimes may not be eligible for pardons, according to Vance, who stated this on Sunday in an interview with Fox News (via NBC News).
The incoming VP called for pardons for those who peacefully protested on January 6 and were treated like gang members by the Department of Justice under Attorney General Merrick Garland. "Obviously, you shouldn't be pardoned if you committed violence on that day."
Philip Anderson Responds to J.D. Vance's Remarks
Among the many Trump fans who found that remark resonant was Philip Anderson of Texas, who was jailed in connection with the incident on both felony and misdemeanor charges.
"You betray your own fans when you tell them the election was stolen and then don't give them a pardon or commutation after you put them in what you call a 'fedsurrection' or 'trap,'" as Anderson pointed out. Additionally, he hinted that Trump should rescue his own supporters, that JD Vance is mistaken, and that all of the J6 defendants should be spared.
Samuel Fisher Joins the Criticism
Anderson was backed by another defendant from January 6, Samuel Fisher (also known as Brad Holiday), who threatened the president with eternal wrath if he did not pardon them.
Warnings from January 6 Defendants Intensify
Anderson continued by saying that targeting the J6 defendants was a HUGE mistake on Vance's part, and then he warned that Anderson's life could be in danger, The Raw Story shares.
"If JD Vance gets his way and I am one of the half of the J6 defendants he drops... I won't make it," Anderson declared. Because my life will end soon, there's no use in continuing. The only thing I want to say right now is "thank you" to every single patriot who sacrificed themselves to ensure our safety.
MAGA Symbols Removed Amid Growing Dissent
Anderson even removed the MAGA sticker off his car.
He declared the following: JD Vance has dashed the dreams and spirits of hundreds of J6ers; he will remove the sticker from his car until every single defendant from J6 is saved.
Until all of the J6 defendants are saved I have to take this off my car.

MAGA Commentators Demand Mass Pardons
Joey Mannarino, a well-known MAGA analyst, joined the conversation, stating that the J6ers should be awarded Presidential Medals of Freedom for their bravery during a time when the nation desperately needed fighters. He also proposed a mass blanket pardon for them.
And the aggressive ones as well, he added with an air of menace.
Clarifications from J.D. Vance Fail to Quell Outrage
Vance attempted to clarify his remarks by stating that individuals who received a "trash trial" would be eligible for pardons, which only served to escalate the opposition.
