Lily Collins and her husband Charlie McDowell were able to quietly welcome their first child together through the use of a surrogate.
On Friday, she posted a snapshot of the infant who was asleep on Instagram with the caption, "Welcome to the center of our world, Tove Jane McDowell."
"Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again..." the caption continued.
It was reported by TMZ that the surrogate mother of the "Emily in Paris" star gave birth earlier this week in the Northern California region.
A number of Collins' celebrity friends were eager to express their congrats to both her and McDowell in the comments section.
"I'm sobbinggggg," Sarah Hyland wrote.
"This is perfect. So so happy for you four," Amanda Seyfried added, seemingly referencing Collins' dog Redford.
"Love you all so much ! Congratulations," Sophia Richie chimed in.
Following their first encounter on the set of the director's film "Gilded Rage" in July 2019, the 35-year-old actress was the first to begin dating rumors with the 41-year-old filmmaker.
Collins disclosed this information in a later episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark." "It was one of those situations where I knew the moment I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day," Collins disclosed. "So, in all honesty, it was just a matter of when," she said.
The couple, who frequently discuss their relationship on the internet, made the announcement of their engagement in October of 2020.
A one-of-a-kind "rose-cut" diamond was used by McDowell, who is the son of actress Mary Steenburgen and actor Malcolm McDowell, to propose to his girlfriend. However, the diamond was stolen in May of 2023 for some reason.
In September of 2021, the couple tied the knot in a ceremony that took place in the woods of Colorado.
Despite the fact that the couple rarely addressed their ambitions for a family, McDowell hinted that they are hoping to increase the size of their brood in October of 2024, per Page Six.
When E! News inquired about the possibility of adding a child to the mix, he responded, "We would like to move into that next stage, so we'll see when it happens!"
Nevertheless, the actor neglected to indicate that it was already in the process of being developed.
