Kim Kardashian has disclosed new details about her brief marriage to former NBA player Kris Humphries, revealing that he demanded the return of her engagement ring during their divorce-despite contributing only a fraction of its cost.

In the latest episode of The Kardashians, released March 13 on Hulu, Kardashian reflected on her past engagement rings during a conversation with her sister, Khloé Kardashian. She recalled her second engagement ring, an 18-carat emerald-cut diamond from Lorraine Schwartz, given to her by Humphries in 2011.

"I didn't keep that," Kardashian said. "I was pregnant with [daughter] North [West], still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in my divorce."

The revelation surprised those present, including celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who reacted, "Jesus."

Khloé added, "That she bought," to which Appleton responded, "Savage."

Kardashian clarified that Humphries had only partially paid for the ring. "He contributed a fifth," she said.

Schwartz, the family jeweler, reassured Kardashian that it was ultimately for the best that she let go of the ring. "But I would've loved a collection," Kardashian admitted.

The engagement ring was one of three she reminisced about on the show, alongside those from her first marriage to music producer Damon Thomas and her third husband, rapper Kanye West, with whom she shares four children.

Humphries and Kardashian were married for only 72 days in 2011 before she filed for divorce. Their legal proceedings dragged on for nearly two years, amid speculation that the marriage was orchestrated for publicity as part of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The divorce was finalized in 2013, by which time Kardashian had already begun dating West.

Following their split, Humphries auctioned off the engagement ring for $749,000 in 2013, significantly exceeding the pre-sale estimate of $300,000 to $500,000. "The ring is indeed Kris' property that he received through his marriage dissolution," his representative said in a statement at the time, adding that Humphries was "very pleased with the final result." The proceeds from the sale were reportedly donated to charity.

While initial reports suggested the ring cost around $2 million-close to a full year of Humphries' NBA salary-Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner, disputed that figure, claiming the actual price was "less than half" of the rumored amount.

Humphries, who played 16 seasons in the NBA with teams such as the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks, retired in 2017. It remains unclear whether he and Kardashian have had any contact since their divorce.

Kardashian's remarks come more than a decade after their split, marking a rare moment in which she publicly addressed their brief marriage. Earlier this season on The Kardashians, she made light of her past relationships when discussing Khloé's recent interaction with her ex-husband, Lamar Odom. "Should I call Kris Humphries?" she joked.

The latest season of The Kardashians continues to revisit Kardashian's past, including the pressures she felt leading up to her highly publicized wedding to Humphries. In 2021, she admitted that she "felt pressured" to go through with the ceremony, fearing she would be labeled a "runaway bride" if she backed out.

Reflecting on how she ended the marriage, she acknowledged, "I handled it totally the wrong way. I fully broke up with him in the worst way, and I just didn't know how to deal. I learned so much from it."
