A YouTuber's claims regarding the late actress Kim Sae-ron's alleged marriage and miscarriage have drawn public criticism, as online commentators accuse him of diverting attention from broader allegations involving actor Kim Soo-hyun.
On March 19, Lee Jin-ho, a YouTuber operating the channel Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho, posted a video titled "Shocking! The Truth About Kim Sae-ron's Marriage Rumors on January 8." In the video, Lee alleged that Kim Sae-ron, who passed away earlier this year, had been married and experienced a miscarriage-information he claimed was being concealed by her family.
"There is a truth the family is hiding," Lee said in the video, asserting that he had confirmed Kim's marriage through what he described as fact-checking efforts. He further released an audio recording, which he claimed was a conversation between Kim Sae-ron and her former manager, identified only as "A."
In the recording, the woman, believed to be Kim, reportedly discusses the circumstances leading to her marriage. "After breaking up with my ex-boyfriend, I continued seeing my current boyfriend. I was about to break up, but I got pregnant and was pressured into marriage," the voice says, adding, "I had the baby removed." She also refers to her husband as "an ordinary employee at a major company" and claims he controlled her social media accounts.
Kim Sae-ron had previously posted wedding-themed photos on social media in January, captioned "Marry," prompting speculation at the time. However, her representatives dismissed the rumors, explaining that the photos were "snapshots taken with a friend."
In his video, Lee also addressed claims made by another YouTube channel, Garo Sero Institute, which alleged that Kim Sae-ron had informed her family that actor Kim Soo-hyun instructed her to change her phone and communicate through encrypted messaging services. Lee argued these claims overlooked what he described as Kim Sae-ron's marriage to another man during the same period.
"The family is raising issues about Kim Soo-hyun from four years ago, but Kim Sae-ron was actually living a newlywed life," Lee said. He also disputed reports that Kim had attempted to take her own life, claiming instead that she had been residing in the U.S. with her husband at the time.
Public reaction to Lee's assertions was largely negative. Many online commenters questioned the relevance of his claims. "What does Kim Sae-ron's marriage have to do with the current controversy?" one commenter asked. Others criticized the focus on her private life, urging attention be redirected to the allegations concerning Kim Soo-hyun, including suspicions of an underage relationship and pending legal matters.
On March 17, Kim Sae-ron's family filed a lawsuit against Lee Jin-ho with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, accusing him of defamation. The family's legal representative also stated they are considering further legal action against Kim Soo-hyun's side.
Kim Soo-hyun's representatives have consistently denied allegations of a relationship with Kim Sae-ron during her minor years. Kim Sae-ron's family has indicated they will pursue digital forensics to substantiate their claims.
