Melania Trump introduced a humanoid robot at the White House during the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit, using the moment to outline an ambitious vision for artificial intelligence in education that would extend from classrooms into American homes.

The robot, known as Figure 03 and developed by Figure AI, escorted the First Lady into the East Room on March 25, marking what officials described as the first appearance of a humanoid robot at the White House. The machine introduced itself in 11 languages and told attendees: "I am grateful to be part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education."

The event, which brought together representatives from 45 countries, positioned artificial intelligence as a central pillar of U.S. education and economic policy. The summit coincided with broader efforts by Donald Trump's administration to integrate private-sector technology leaders into federal strategy, including the creation of a new AI advisory council.

Melania Trump framed the demonstration as more than a symbolic gesture, presenting humanoid AI as a near-term development. "The future of AI is personified," she said. "It will be formed in the shape of humans. Very soon, artificial intelligence will move from our mobile phones to humanoids that deliver utility."

Her remarks outlined a detailed concept for AI-driven education centered on a hypothetical assistant. "Imagine a humanoid educator named 'Plato.' Access to the classical studies is now instantaneous - literature, science, art, philosophy, mathematics, and history. Humanity's entire corpus of information is available in the comfort of your home."

She described a system designed to adapt continuously to individual learners. "Plato will provide a personalised experience, adaptive to the needs of each student," she said, adding that "Plato is always patient, and always available." The First Lady argued such systems could reshape learning outcomes, stating they would "boost analytical skills and problem solving and adapt in real time to a student's pace, prior knowledge, and even emotional state."

The robot showcased at the event is not currently designed for educational deployment. Figure 03, unveiled in October 2025, is primarily built for domestic tasks such as cleaning and handling household chores, powered by a proprietary artificial intelligence model that processes visual input and executes commands autonomously.

Brett Adcock highlighted the demonstration's significance, writing that he was "proud to see F.03 make history as the first humanoid robot in the White House," noting the system operated autonomously during its appearance.
