Smoke Dawg was murdered in a shooting incident that took place in Toronto's entertainment hub on June 30. He was 21.

Based on the reports, the rapper whose real name was Jahvante Smart has been shot shortly before 8 p.m. on June 30, just outside of the city's Cube Nightclub. As of the moment, there is still no suspect so no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.

CP24 news outlet reported that the shooting has three victims - two men and a woman. They were rushed to a medical facility, with the two men being declared to be in critical condition.

In an update, the two men died and they were later identified as rappers Smoke Dawg and 28-year-old Koba Prime. On the other hand, the female victim also sustained serious injuries but they are not life-threatening so she is safe.

The police said that witnesses recalled hearing "multiple shots" along the busy area of the Toronto Entertainment District. Later, two suspects were seen fleeing from the scene and they were believed to have escaped driving a black SUV or a white car.

Smoke Dawg's representatives confirmed his death through a statement. "Jahvante Smart, also known to many of his fans as Smoke Dawg passed away on the evening of June 30," they told E! News.

"Jahvante touched the lives of many fans not only in Toronto but around the world. He helped people wherever he could and will be remembered for his huge smile and glowing personality," they further said.

In any case, superstar rapper Drake paid tribute to the late artist by updating his Instagram story with a photo and a caption that reads, "All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating. So much talent and so many stories we never got to see play out. Rest up Smoke."

While fans and colleagues paid tribute via social media, his family and friends held a candlelight vigil on Monday at the Metropolitan Church Park. Attendees were requested to bring candles, flowers, and posters to honor the rapper.

Smoke Dawg belongs to the hip-hop group called Halal Gang and its members also include Mo-G, Safe, and Puffy L'z. His most known work was the remix of 'Trap House' that features French Montanna.

Finally, the Canadian hip-hop artist is survived by his parents, daughter and 13 siblings.
