Already a box office hit internationally, 'Jurrasic World: Fallen Kingdom' was officially released in China on June 15 and its ticket sales on the opening day were astounding, toppling 'Incredibles 2' from the number one spot.

The movie was well-received, earning over $500 million, worldwide, just after two weeks of playing in theaters. In China, while it was a big hit in the opening, JWFK's earnings dropped from the first week's $34.4 million to $8.3 million on its second Friday.

But despite the decrease in ticket sales, the film still surpassed the total gross of popular flicks including 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tale,' 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,' 'Kong: Skull Island' and 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage.'

At this time, Forbes reported that the latest 'Jurassic' sequel has raked in a total of $237 million in China and the numbers are still expected to go up. Now, with the total earnings of $932.4 million, it is clear that China contributed a fair chunk of money to its worldwide gross. Observers noted that the movie can go past the $1 billion mark in the next weekend, making the movie a certified blockbuster.

In any case, globally, Disney and Pixar's animated film, the 'Incredibles 2' secured the second spot with an estimated $44.6 million in its third week while Sony's  'Sicario: Day of the Soldado' is in third place with $19 million in its opening weekend.

The newly-premiered comedy, 'Uncle Drew' is currently in the fourth place with $15.5 million. 'Ocean's 8' which is now on its fourth weekend comes fifth with $8 million gross, Huffington Post reported.

Back in China Box Office, Sylvester Stallone's action flick, 'Escape Plan 2: Hades' is trailing behind 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' and the 'Incredibles 2.' Xiao Shenyang's 'The Way Of The Bug' and Li Xinyun's 'Lobster Cop' are also doing great at the box office race.

On the other hand, Herman Yau's Hong Kong crime thriller entitled 'The Leakers' and Huang Jianxin's comedy, 'Happiness Is Coming,' also left impressive marks in the Chinese film market after three weeks in theaters.

Meanwhile, as school is still out in China, lots of family-friendly movies are scheduled to be released this week as a special offering for the summer holiday. In particular, 'Big Head Son and Small Head Dad 3: Adventure In Russia' and Xu Zheng's noir comedy, 'Dying To Survive' are showing on the same day, on July 6.
