Google Duplex made its debut back in May 2018 at Google IO 2018 developers' conference. At that time, it was said that the calling chat-bot will only be able to call for appointments at hair salon and restaurant by itself. However, according to a new report, Google is also planning to use this human alike calling sensation in Call Centres, in near future.
The Information reported that the tech giant is planning to implement this technology as a real-life solution to call centers, which can replace human efforts in calling clients and keeping updated with them. Sources also claimed that Google is already in talks and negotiations with some of the top financial tycoons. The latest update on this is that the company has approached one client- a well-known insurance giant, to utilize Google Duplex in their day-to-day business.
According to Tech Radar, Google will be combining the abilities of Duplex with Google Assistant to take and handle the calls of customers of the client companies and give the output in human-sounding voice with the help of any real human. The human calling chatbot is expected to address and resolve simple grievances of the customers with the help of Google Assistant when required.
The technology may sound immensely exciting. But its way too far to be seen working in real life, technology experts stated. Recently, Google revealed that the services offered by Duplex would only be limited to taking appointments at hair salons and booking tables in restaurants. The company even demonstrated the table booking ability of Google Duplex at a top restaurant just a week before.
The bad news however to individuals who were thinking to have a glimpse of Google artificially intelligent chatbot at their own place. Google has also made it clear that Duplex's offerings will be limited to the company's major clients only, at least for the initial days of this human sounding robo-caller.
