The adventure series “Indiana Jones 5” was pushed from July 10, 2020 to July 9, 2021 starring Harrison Ford, directed by no other than Steven Spielberg with Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy as its producers.

“It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor, and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.” Alan Horn, Disney Chairman said.

The most awaited Indiana Jones 5 will not be into theaters on 2020. This is the second major delay of Indy. The first announcement was in 2016 from 2019 released period then pushed to 2020.

Filming will supposedly start on April 2019 in the United Kingdom. However, according to the production, the shooting will not begin next spring and that they need to move the date if not months, then a year.

The return of the exciting action hero was halted because of the script issues and other major concerns. The filmmakers need to address it, but never explained in detail of what are those issues that greatly affect the entire story. So, the movie will unlikely to release on its original schedule as expected.

Knowing that David Koepp was being replaced with Jonathan Kasdan, son of scribe Lawrence Kasdan, “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, the delay might be about a sudden change of scriptwriter and that they need more time to work things out to modify the previous draft. However, the deal has yet to close with Kasdan, but sooner or later he will be on board to join the project.

Together with other Walt Disney movies, the “Jungle Cruise” starring Dwayne Johnson released date is Oct.11, 2019 and “Maleficent 2” of Angelina Jolie is on May 29, 2020. While Disney films like Mary Poppins Returns is on Dec. 19 this year.
