The results are in, and it looks like 'Hotel Transylvania 3' lorded it over the box office on its opening weekend.

The three-way battle expected to happen between that movie, Dwayne Johnson's 'Skyscraper' and the Paul Rudd-Evangeline Lilly starter 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' never happened. Instead, as Variety reported, the Adam Sandler-Selena Gomez led movie managed to climb all the way to the top; 'Skyscraper' didn't even manage to scrape the top. That honor belongs to 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' which expectedly crawled its way to second place.

The North American box office tells one side of the story; in the international markets, it's closer to expectations.

Indie Wire notes that the opening weekend figures are anything but spectacular, though; at best, they are routine.

In the case of 'Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation,' it opened at an estimated $44 million. That, however, is the smallest animated box office in recent times. Movies in its mold-'Despicable Me 3' and 'Cars 3'-made more in their respective opening weekends. However, it appears that the movie is still set to profit.

'Skyscraper' may suffer because of the World Cup; it already isn't making that much money in the domestic box office, but Dwayne Johnson has made his case as a crowd-drawer. While it won't profit as much as expected, the movie is still in line to gross a modest $250 million worldwide.

As expected of a Marvel movie that tells of the partnership between Scott Lang and Hope Pym amidst the events of the Infinity War, 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' is good for a normal-level $200 million domestically. It's also likely to graze the $500 million ceiling.

Other honorable mentions-or holdovers still in cinemas-are 'Incredibles 2' and 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.' The figures are already in, and it appears that Pixar's second offering won't be enough to claw back at the dinosaur flick, which is expected to gross somewhere in the $1.3 billion values worldwide.

The figures have been taken from major cinema markets; Japan, Australia, Mexico, and Germany are all markets that have been giving big turnouts in the market.
